Basic Chaplain Courses
(Taught over two days)

Introductory Elements of Law Enforcement and First Responder Chaplaincy:
This introduces the philosophy of law enforcement and first responder chaplaincy and covers parameters and protocols in being a chaplain and having a chaplain program. This covers the basics from the law to ride-alongs.
Domestic Violence:
This will present an overview of the dangers faced by police officers during domestic calls and review how chaplains can support our officers as they respond to situation in the community. Practical information will be given on helping situations where domestic violence may be present which will include situation within the community as well as domestic violence that may occur in the family of the officer.

Helping Law Enforcement and First Responder Families:
This will describe the role of the chaplain with law enforcement, first responders and their families. This will include possible activities and programs.
Managing Stress and Crisis Incident Stress:
This will assist chaplains, law enforcement personnel, and first responders in how to utilize Stress Management and CISM techniques. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder will be discussed.
Officer Injury, Death and Ceremonies:
This will offer information on the appropriate response of a law enforcement agency after a a line-of-duty death. Notification to funeral protocols will be discussed. This will also show how chaplains can be beneficial when an officer is injured. Other ceremonies and events will be covered.
Ethics and Confidentiality:
This course shares a code of ethics, principles, practices, and standards. The course will define and address the legal and ethical parameters of a chaplain including developing and understanding the lines of communication and confidentiality.This includes the moral decisions faced by first responders and chaplains.
Starting a Police Chaplain Program:
The course covers the philosophy, principles, personnel and procedures of starting and implementing a law enforcement and first responder chaplain program. 
Suicide Awareness:
This course addresses how to be aware, the practical aspects of responding to a suicide including law enforcement and first responder suicide. Numerous guidelines will be discussed.
Unity in the Midst of Diversity:

This course will focus on the paradigm of how police chaplain teams can engage their departments and the community with an understanding of and a commitment to an inter-faith and mulit-cultural approach.

Death Notification:
This offers critical principles to prepare the chaplain to deliver effective notifications. It includes protocols and procedures.
